When Presence and Indifference Look the Same
There are moments in relationships where presence and indifference appear identical.
There is no drama.
No reaction.
No visible movement in the story.
And yet, something in the body knows the difference.
Presence does not withdraw.
It does not close.
It does not disappear.
Indifference, on the other hand, feels like absence — even when the person is physically there.
The confusion arises because both states can look quiet from the outside.
But internally, one feels spacious and alive,
while the other feels flat, heavy, or subtly lonely.
The distinction is not found in behavior.
It is felt as a quality of contact within the body.
